Hello Britt ! It is indeed an honor to have a supreme guitarist of your stature on Metal Monthly !
First off, let's get into when are where you first picked up an electric guitar :
I was actually in a mall shopping and over the speakers I heard this incredibly amazing sound. I went to an employee and asked what was playing. The woman wasn't sure, so she went back and checked. She came back and said it was Van Halen, and the song was called Eruption. That’s when I knew I absolutely had to play an electric, and started looking to buy one that week!
What's your Band history prior to Jaded ?
I first played in an 80’s cover band, then I was in a more Nu-metal heavier band with all guys. It was when that band opened for another band that had Hillary (my drummer now) playing, that I realized I would love to have an all female band. That night we decided we would jam together, and the rest is history!
Have you ever considered playing any other instrument instead of guitar ?
I started off with the piano, then played the flute for many years. I would really like to get into saxophone at some point, but on stage guitar is definitely my instrument.
Do you have any serious training or do you wing it ?
I pretty much wing everything! I had a few lessons when I started out playing the guitar, so I knew how to hold my hands and learned some 1st position chords and pentatonic scales, etc…but after that I mostly listened to my favorite players and play along to their CDs for my lessons.
Who are your influences ?
EDDIE VAN HALEN!!!
I also love Paul Gilbert, Marty Friedman, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughn…
I've seen your Solo on Ultimate Shredder, and DAMN ! It most certainly shreds. So we know you're a shredder. What I'm
curious about is do you feel that shredding on electric guitar or an intricate acoustic composition is most satisfactory ?
I personally love electric because I feel like there is more options for my style, such as tapping, bending, and of course whammy bar action! Sometimes those tricks and other ways that I express myself through my playing doesn’t come out as well on acoustic.
And that leads me to this question : Of all the songs that you play, which one song is your all time favorite and why ?
I would have to say my favorite song to play live would be Heavy Metal Heart Attack- which you have yet to hear! However it is on the list to be recorded for this upcoming album!
You're as talented as you are beautiful Britt. Now that's TALENT ! Do you have any particular regimen to keep your guitar
chops and body in shape ?
I try to practice the basic scales and exercises everyday on guitar. As far as body, Im not really one for working out, so I just try to eat healthy.
What ONE guitarist would you say is the best in the universe bar none ?
EDDIE VAN HALEN!!!! J
He is the reason I play guitar to begin with!
If you were stranded on a desert island with one CD and a battery powered CD player for a week, which ONE CD would you want
to have with you ?
This is a very difficult question!!
Maybe Van Halen, Self Titled
You've jammed in lots of places. Where do you find Fans are more receptive to rock ?
Anywhere in Europe!
What's your opinion of Satanic Death Metal with the "death growl" vocals ?
I personally am not a fan of those type of vocals. I feel like its hard to listen to multiple songs in a row of that, which is unfortunate, because most of the time the music is shreddin!!
What Band or musician have you NOT played with live that you'd love to jam with ?
EDDIE VAN HALEN
For some reason, I've always wanted to hear JADED do a cover of the Beatles 'Revolution'. Any plans for this or any other
covers ?
Currently we are playing with “The GIRLS Are Back in Town” – Thin Lizzy
Share with us a really crazy on the road story that you've told no other Website or Magazine :
Haha, well theres a reason that story has never been told on a website! Theres always something crazy going on with us..give us a great live show to play and some alcohol and the party begins!
Is networking on Social places like MySpace essential or overrated to you ?
I think places like Myspace are very essential. Especially with the current state of the music industry and radio, etc, it is much harder for a band to get the word out. Myspace allows you to reach so many people all over the world and with no postage fee! It has helped Jaded a lot.
What's your personal philosophy ?
Make it Happen!
What do you do to relax when you're not on the road ?
I like to ride horses, paint, write, go to concerts, and of course play guitar!
You've been known to have admirable tongue length, in fact you've battled tongues with Gene Simmons side by side ! Is it safe to say
you are the Queen of Tongues ? Can you tie a knot in a cherry stem ?
Haha, well, yes I’d have to say I have yet to find another girl with a longer tongue, so I guess I’ll take that title for now! I actually have trouble with the cherry stem trick, however I can unwrap Starbursts in my mouth with ease.
What are the big plans for Britt Lightning in 2008 ?
Big plans include touring the world and getting the new Jaded album out!
Where can the peeps find Britt on the Web ?

Any shout outs to anyone in particular ?
EDDIE VAN HALEN- LETS JAM!! ;)
What's your opinion of Metal Monthly?
THE place for metal!
So, like, if I ever meet you, can I get an authentic used by Britt Lightning guitar pick ?
You know it!!!
Thanks Britt ! You freakin' RULE !
