The bay area is known for some up and coming metal bands, now we are adding one more to the list. And trust me you've never heard anything like Fog of War. If you like your music hard, heavy, and fast give these guys a shot. Fog is a band that immerged from some random metal fuckers in a small town. They later turned into a brutal and aggressive thrash project blowing all the speakers in the bay area. Fog is hitting it big time locally, and merging out into the thrash scene. I'm sure they will get much larger than anyone of them would have anticipated. It's just a matter of time.
Playing with local band, Hatchet for a while now, drummer Matt ventured to them possibly temporarily. Just clearing up any confusion.
Band Members:
Josh AKA Mosh- Vocals and guitar madness.
Big Joe: Bass Blaster
Matt O.- Drum Master for Fog and Hatchet
Winkler- This guy who plays guitar¡K
FOG OF WAR
December 29th 2007
Gilman Show
What separates you from the rest of the thrash metal scene?
FOG:
Joe: We drink more than they could ever dream of.
Mosh: That's true, and our riffing has a bit more of a unique twist.
Where can we get our hands on some of your merchandise?
FOG:
Joe: It's in my bedroom.
Mosh: As soon as we get out hands on some of our own merchandise it will be out there.
Matt: We have demos!!!
Mosh: And sometimes I have patches, and soon we are going to have shirts.
Joe: On our myspace. Hit us up through there.
What is the web address?
FOG: www.myspace.com/FogOfWarBENICIA.
Mosh: That's Fog of War, B-E-N-I-C-I-A. (Mosh wanted to be clear )
Why should people come out to the shows?
FOG:
Joe: Why the fuck not?
Mosh: Why not? It's thrash. And there's beer. If you like to party while you listen to music or you like to listen to music while you party, come out.
So tell us something coming soon that you haven't told any media.
FOG:
We are getting label attention.
Name three bands you wish to play with.
FOG:
Joe: Hatchet, Van Halen, Zombie Holocaust!
Everyone: ZOMBIE HOLOCAUST!
What was the direction you were aiming for with the new songs?
FOG:
Joe: FAST.
Mosh: Slightly more technical without coming off as assholes.
Wink: Im trying to be more of an asshole.
Mosh: Well you're allowed.
Has there been any work done for the next songs?
FOG:
Joe: Always.
Mosh: Yeah we got a couple new ones going right now.
Joe: We are finishing up out CD release, then we will be working on a new EP.
Do you guys have an EPK?
FOG:
Joe: What the fuck is.....Is that a retirement plan?
Electronic Press Kit. If you want one, you should hit up Metal Monthly to get more exposure.
FOG:
DEAL.
When will the songs be released?
FOG: About a month, we should be playing at least one new song. After that it is the writing process.
Where is Matt and why won't he talk?
FOG:
Mosh: He's drumming and getting ready.
Craziest thing that has happened during a show?
FOG:
Mosh: Ok well...
Joe: Wait nooooo don't bring that up dude, that was just bad.
Mosh: I got a couple of them.
Joe: Just tell one.
Mosh: Ok well the first show we played there were broken bones, teeth and blood in the mosh pit afterwards, when we weren't even very good.
And another time at this bar this guy got his head split open while we were playing and his brains and shit were all over the floor. And actually the dude turned out to be perfectly fine. He was released from the hospital the next day. He didn't get a concussion, just got knocked out.
Joe: He lost some chunks of his brain.
Mosh: Yeah he was alright, it was weird.
(FYI, that was totally 2 :)
You have tons of myspace fans. How important are they to you?
FOG:
Joe: Very.
Mosh: Anyone who wants to take the time to actually listen to our songs is cool.
Joe: To be able to connect with anybody in the scene is fucking tight.
Mosh: You win a small victory every time someone likes your music.
Joe: (Off the wall) And I love doing those little survey things too, those are fun.
How do you connect with your myspace fans?
FOG:
We try to send them personal messages that are not just like
"Hey, thanks for adding us."
- Band # 1977
What are your hidden talents?
FOG:
Mosh: I'm outrageously good in bed.
Joe: Josh is a freak. Haha.
Any shout outs to anyone in particular?
FOG:
Hatchet, Zombie Holocaust, all the bay area bands, fucking Jeremy, Dirty D for sure, Passive Aggressive, Dekapitator, Laceration, Adrenicide, and Clara.
Mosh: All the chicks who come out to our shows that are really good looking.
Joe: And the semi-good looking ones.
Clara ( "Ornament" ): If you got boobs your welcome.
Any words to the people at Metal Monthly and the readers?
FOG: We don¡'t know how big thrash is where ever you are, but come to California.
If we dont get out there first, come out here.
So Matt since you haven't said barely anything throughout the interview, any words?
Matt: THRASH!
