Metal Monthly: Tell our readers About Hemlock, your lineup, and the Name you have chosen for your band?
Hemlock: We are a metal band who have been around for 15 years touring the world and rocking faces everywhere. Chad Smith is the lead singer and bassist. Brandon Crane (me) and Bryan Gentry both do guitars and vocal backups and Steve Baca is our drummer. Hemlock is metal.
Metal Monthly: Who are your influences.
Hemlock: Slayer, Machine Head, Pro-Pain, Biohazard, Pantera...
Metal Monthly: You are based out of Sin City, where can we see you, or get your cd's?
Hemlock: We recently signed a deal through Candlelight Records so you can get Bleed the Dream damn near anywhere. If they aren't in the stores, they can order them in. Of course we always have all of the cds at the shows too.
Metal Monthly: If you could send one cd/album up in the space shuttle to be left on another planet, to be found by other life what cd/album would you send to represent American Metal?
Hemlock: Wow... Hmm... Master of Puppets? Vulgar? Chaos A.D.? Act of God? Burn My Eyes? I don't know... Next question haha...
Metal Monthly: How important is the internet these days in promoting your music?
Hemlock: With the popularity of Myspace, everyone and their mom are online now! Its a great way to get ahold of people with similar musical interests and show them something they maybe weren't aware was an option. Its a double sided blade obviously though with all of the piracy. You kinda take the good with the bad I guess.
Metal Monthly: What are you currently listening to on your ipod/cd player?
Hemlock: Pretty much anything from Pro-Pain, Hatebreed, Machine Head...
Metal Monthly: Have you played guitar hero yet? your thoughts?
Hemlock: I have played it and it seems every time I do, I get worse. I can play these songs in real life but not on the video game (haha!). Its cool though, its rad to see some older school stuff on a newer video game exposing a new generation to Madhouse and Symphony of Destruction and such. I approve, fun game, I just happen to suck at it.
Metal Monthly: What is the funniest tour prank you have been involved with, whether you were the target, or a witness. You can plead the 5th on this.
Hemlock: Not so much pranks as just drunken ridiculousness. Drinking jars of cheese oil, Falling out of bunks in the bus, Pissing in the aisle of the bus, people being drunken Sharpie Targets, etc...
Metal Monthly: If you could tour with any band, who would you choose, and why?
Hemlock: Machine Head. They own, they're down to earth very cool guys, and they are doing very well for themselves these days. Props to them!
Metal Monthly: Anything you would like to add for our readers.
Hemlock: We are about to start recording our new album due in early '08 with Eddy Garcia (Pissing Razors) in El Paso. Its definitely badass and very Hemlock to the Nth degree. There's quite a few fast shredders to get the pits raging as well as some sludgers to get the necks breaking! Its gonna be badass so make sure you check it out when its available! We are also going to be on tour this Nov/Dec and a huge tour announcement coming soon so stay tuned!!!
Metal Monthly: Thanks Bro.
Hemlock: Thanks for the interview and keep in touch!!!
