Last we spoke you were headed for Dragon Con. Tell us about that experience :
It was an amazing gig!! The room was about a 2500 person capacity, (The International ballroom) the sound was huge........made me feel invinceable......I sang my ass off!!! and the people working the show treated us like royalty. The sound guys and security said we where the best band they have seen there so that was quite a compliment. It was really a trip to play for the Dragon Con crowd. Everyone was dressed as their favorite comic book hero/si fi person........lots of storm troopers......lots of girls wearing the corsets I endorse (Alter Ego) or not wearing much at all!! My kind of crowd.......and a full bar on every floor! One of the best shows we ever played.
Was there any one particular moment that stood out that day ?
I think the first time I started to sing over that sound system in sound check.........just INCREDIBLE.
I understand your performance was epic. Damn. I so wish I could've been there ! Did you play anything off your upcoming release ?
No, we did our Vainglory/Vainglory set.....it was So cool though because we open with Walking Dead which has a war intro (gunfire, bombs sounding) and I hit these ultra high Mariah Carrey (the metal Mariah (;) type notes........it sounded so BIG.........then we have our theatrics, I roll around on the floor and breathe heavily (really)....... and OF COURSE my favorite, the crowd involvement part of the evening. Lots of anwser call stuff......that is what I am in music for, to make others happy........you might say im a heavy metal cheerleader of sorts (;!
Speaking of which....what non telling secrets can you divulge to us about what to expect on this upcoming new release. Any info at all you can give us ?
Well,we have a new drummer and a new rythm guitarist..........all I can say right now is the drummer has sticks named after him, and is a big name in the industry.......and the guitarist will be another lead player......it will be a dual lead guitar band. Im SOOOO excited!
I really, really, really look forward to this new CD ! Like no other CD I've anticipated before. Will there be any accompanying video footage as in what you did with Burdened ?
We actually have one we are going to do still on this CD for Blackened Soul........we are going to do a concept vid though, acting, a story line belive. There WILL be two videos for the CD........gooooood stuff!
What would you say is the BIG difference between the last CD and this new one ?
AGRESSION and DYNAMICS......it will be edgier.
One of the things I can say about you is that you are extremely talented vocally. Great range, power, and subtlety when needed. Have you ever done, considered, or in process of doing anything other than Metal ?
I have actually, I have done all forms of music. I did oprea in college,.........as for recordings...... I have done the screamo stuff, pop,folk, rock, country (if you can believe that) new age, torch songs, and attempted to do indian stuff...(ya know......egyptian type trills) I just love music and things that make sound....from a dulcimer to arranging strings.....if it makes a sound, I will try to play it. I think my favorite thing I've ever played was a full size harp.......very hypnotic (O.K. im on a tangent now).........so to answer your quesion I have done ALOT........BUT.......I always come back to the thing I love the most......singing heavy metal.....it's powerful!! I love it (;!
Another thing that stands out about you is your attire onstage. Tell us more about what Kate Frenchs sports to rock :
Well, I just feel that being on stage is something special.......im an entertainer, so I dont want to look like I do when I go to the supermarket!! I am endorsed by a company called Alter Ego Erotics. It's classy sexy metal gear and I love it!
What advice would you give to someone getting into the Metal Business as a Vocalist ?
Dont just be a vocalist.....KNOW music, know time signature, know what key you're in, know some music theory.....that way you can know what the guys/girls playing are talkin about and be in the process. I would recomend getting something to record yourself singing and listening to yourself OVER and OVER so you can know what you're doing or not. Also, if you want to have range......KNOW placement. Know the feeling of hitting a high or low note and where it is physically so you dont hurt your voice....PRACTICE.........sing your set everyday.........and lastly learn how to play the guitar.
How would you rank Corbin as a guitarist ? Me personally, he's on my top 5.
Are you kiddin............man, I have heard SOOOOO many.....he IS the BEST. I have stood next to all the virtuosos.......there is somethin about him that is diffrent.......and it's NOT because I'm biased...he just has a finess no one else does. Love Joe Stump, love George Bellas, love Gus G, ......but Corb is the best in my opinion........listen and see(;!

Oh you will........we have a HUGE buzz goin on in the music industry and a few BIG labels intrested........it's just gettin better (;!

Just that I love all my fans who I just call my friends........I am so honored for all the kind people that contact me everyday to just say hello. Im the kind of person that says hi to everyone in the grocery store and starts a conversation with the old man, or the teenage girl, I love people and I love to make people feel good about themselves. I LOVE my friends, and I feel honored that some of them really like what we do.....
