The War Room - Facebook and the Famous Fallacy.

One of the biggest things to hold bands back and keep them from succeeding is themselves. There are many factors that contribute to the implosion but for the sake of space and the fact that an internet readers attention span is less than 1 minute we'll focus on Facebook.

Although Facebook is undeniably the world's largest networking website it is also the most limited in terms of outreach in order to accomplish your goals. So what are the band's goals ? If the mission is to simply get about 5 to 15 people making comments about how great you are and selling less than 10 CDs a year then you're doing great. After all, Facebook allows you to have a whopping 5,000 friends and if you max that out 15 comments is less than 2% of people on FB that give a damn. Great numbers right ? Hope you noted the sarcasm.

Facebook is great for a few friends that know each other personally but as far as making it the one and only place you market a band it is one of the worst places to do it. Get a Website. Get professional PR. Get a goal that doesn't limit you. And get away from thinking that the biggest site in the World is your best tool for making your band a success. You're only fooling yourself.
