For the longest time, Absinthe had been illegal in the United States. We can blame the ingredient THUJONE for that. Which coincidentally is also the very same ingredient that gives the desired drink it's hallucinogenic potency.
Along comes New Orleans Chemist Ted Breaux with a chemical derivative that essentially does the same thing legally and you have LUCID. A beverage that is revered by the Absinthe deprived and abhorred by Absinthe purists. One thing all can be happy about is that it is made with the standard Wormwood process the wicked juice is known for.
I personally found it to be lightly sweet, dry and very herbal tasting to the point that it was less of an alcoholic drink than an intoxicating experience. The aromatic fog the drink made with ice set the tone for a true Absinthe awakening. Denouncer or believer, Lucid is Absinthe, and it does what the legendary drink sets out to do. It rocks.
