NUMBER 10
GENE SIMMONS
No matter what kind of music you like most...you know Kiss. And therefore you know Gene Simmons. Although not a true vocalist by most standards that involve things like actually singing, his vocal stlye and stage persona as his alter ego 'The Demon' is legend. He's not on this list because he's such a great singer, but because he sings and it becomes great. If you know Gene, you know what I mean.

NUMBER 9
RONNY MUNROE
Ronny has a style reminiscent of many of the greats we grew up with, and yet there can be no doubt that he stands on his own. Whether with Metal Church or his Solo project, this is one hard working front man. His singing style and performances are pure power. This is the good stuff people.

NUMBER 8
KATE FRENCH
This lead singer for Chastain and Vainglory is what kick ass metal vocals are all about. With a show that reaches out and grabs you by the throat and a vocal style that makes you want to bang your head even if you had a migraine, Ms. French has it all. Check her out in video, in concert, or on CD and you too will see the light. And the light becometh Kate French.

NUMBER 7
GEDDY LEE
There can be no doubt that Geddy has an instantly recognizable voice. His work with Rush is the stuff legends are made of. And I don't know one rocker or metal head that hasn't sung along to a Rush tune and tried to copy the high pitched tone that Lee is known for. In fact, I'm certain many have been hurt trying. This guy is unique and he can belt it out. You know it.

NUMBER 6
ZAKK WYLDE
Zakk stepped out of Ozzy's shadow long ago and has since established himself as a force to be reckoned with. His vocals and guitar playing on stage are evidence that you don't need make up or fireworks or a freaky gimmick to make it. You just need to kick ass. Zakk does. Every second. Every minute. Every day.

NUMBER 5
BRUCE DICKINSON
Being the lead singer for Iron Maiden has it's perks if you're a powerful vocals, crowd commanding, sword fighting pilot. Bruce is all of the above and although he's not known for his range, he is known in Maiden circles as the 'Air Raid Siren'. There's reason for that. Dickinson can belt it out live with the best of them and hold his own.

NUMBER 4
SEBASTIAN BACH
Yes. I put this Bach guy up ahead of Dickinson on the list. And there's a reason for that. Sebastian embodies all that a front man should be with his wildly raw vocals, stage prowling, and in your face attitude. He can sing it high or low and when this guy lets loose it is indeed a wonder to behold. He's not a great technique singer. But he is a superb rock vocalist.

NUMBER 3
RONNIE JAMES DIO
This former Elf (that's not a remark about his height- he actually was in a band called Elf) and Rainbow and Solo singer is best known for his work with Black Sabbath. His signature style of deep, dramatic vocals has cemented his place in metal history. He also claims to have invented the world famous rock horn salute. That has nothing to do with this. Just thought I'd mention that. Ronnie defines the mystic and dark side of metal without going into strangely evil. You know, like a rainbow in the dark.

NUMBER 2
GEOFF TATE
Damn. What can I say about this gentleman in such a short time. There's so much. He is one truly awesome vocalist with range, charisma, stage presence, and more that is practically in a league of his own. For a fine example of his work as a Vocalist and Showman, just pop 'Operation : Mindcrime' into the DVD player. And that, is what metal is all about.

NUMBER 1
ROB HALFORD
He is the epitome of Metal. He is the greatest Metal Artist of our time. He is a living legend. And he is Rob Halford. THE METAL GOD.
